Firm Overview

A Lawyer With a Long History in Criminal Law

My name is Michael Spano. I've dedicated my career to handling criminal law matters in Syracuse and Central New York. I've spent more than 17 years in various positions in this field. I now use that experience to defend people accused of crimes.

If you need defense against criminal charges, trust my experience.

Use the Opposition's Knowledge Against Them

I spent a decade working in the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office. As an assistant district attorney, I prosecuted tough cases, from drug charges to homicides. I handled a variety of groundbreaking and high profile cases, including the county's first hate crime case in 2003 and a notorious murder for hire case in 2004. Ultimately, I was promoted to the role of Chief Assistant District Attorney and put in charge of the homicide bureau.

I have trained prosecutors. I have trained officers from the Syracuse Police Department and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department.

What all of this means is that I have stood in the opposition's shoes. I know about their attention to detail and their careful preparation of cases. I use this knowledge every day.

Criminal Law: This is What I Do

Instead of possessing a limited amount of knowledge about many areas of the law, I focus my practice in one area: criminal defense. I handle all misdemeanor and felony charges, state or federal, from drug possession and DUI to the most serious felonies, including murder.

What this means is that I know where to look for opportunities, for chances to obtain the best possible outcome. I have developed and used innovative defense strategies. I have successfully handled the most challenging cases.
